1. How long is each session and how much does it cost?
The first session is always a longer, or
double session of one and a half to just under two hours, and is
$320.00. Subsequent sessions are usually the regular clinical hour of
45 to 50 minutes and are $160.00. These are payable in cash, or by check directly before or
after each session.
For quitting smoking the first, or only session is one and a half to just under two hours, and costs $400.00. Subsequent sessions are 45 to 50 minutes long and cost $200.00. You need to decide on the approach you want to take before or during the first session, and the entire fee is payable at that point, and is non refundable.
Phone or skype sessions are payable in advance at the same rate.
2. Do you take credit or debit cards?
No. All fees are payable only by cash or check. A fee of $30.00 is charged for returned checks. Phone sessions should be paid for in advance by e-transfer.
3. Are your services covered by my insurance? Nancy is now a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, registration # 003841. Some healthcare insurance providers now include coverage for RPs or Registered Psychotherapists, but not all, because the college was just established in 2015. Please inquire with your insurance provider.
4. What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 48 hours notice is required or you will be expected to pay for the entire session.
5.Where are you located?
Nancy’s clinic is in downtown Toronto, at the corner of Elm and Bay. The closest subway stop is Dundas on the Yonge line and is about a 5 to 10 minute walk, more than half of which you can walk underground through the Atrium on Bay in inclement weather.
6. Do you guarantee results?
Only you can guarantee your results with your resolve and commitment. The responsibility for any change is always yours, even when you enlist the help of an expert such as Nancy. You pay for her time and expertise, and you can expect that she will give you her undivided attention and apply all her considerable skill and expertise to helping you make the change you came for.
7. How long will it take before I get the results I want?
This depends on the nature of the issues you want to address.
Quitting smoking can be accomplished in one session, provided you have
made a firm decision for your own reasons that you choose to be a
nonsmoker for the rest of your life. You can choose to extend the
process by up to 4 weekly sessions, cutting down gradually, until after
the last one, you are smoke free, or you may want to continue for some
additional support or to address other, potentially related issues. It
is always up to you.
Losing weight is always a minimum of 4 sessions (one per week), so that
we can be sure to address all the major stumbling blocks affecting it.
Depending on how much weight you need to lose, and how much ongoing
support you are likely to need, or want, you may choose to continue on
a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis to make sure you stay on track, and
to deal with any new obstacles you may encounter.
Some phobias, and some kinds of anxieties can usually be dealt with in one session. Sometimes underlying issues can be complex and you will not get full relief until they are all resolved. In this case you will need to persevere, and do homework in between sessions that will speed your progress along. We cannot know how long this will take until you have gotten the relief you want, but it will certainly be less than simply talk therapy, which would likely not be under a year of weekly sessions.
For the improvement of sports performance, or other skills performance,
as well as other types of life or career coaching, we will take time
during the initial session to determine your goals and outcomes, and
develop a plan to help you reach them.
Generalized anxieties, depression, self esteem issues, the aftermath of
abuse, anorexia, bulimia, and other serious disordered eating, as well
as any other long term or deeply rooted emotional and psychological
issues usually have many different aspects that may need addressing
before you get full relief. It varies widely from one person to
another, and is difficult to predict exactly how long it is likely to
take. In more ‘traditional’ types of psychotherapy these kinds of
issues usually take years before you get any noticeable results. With
the techniques that Nancy uses and her expertise in using them, the
length of the entire process will be dramatically reduced. You will
begin to notice some kind of positive difference after the first
session, and it is best to play it by ear, or let it unfold as we go
along, after that.
